DAY 1 September 16 - Depart your hometown and take an overnight flight across the Atlantic. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you travel to start your vacation.
DAY 2 September 17 - Rome Arrival - After landing at Rome Airport, complete customs and immigration formalities. Transfer to your hotel independently, check in and settle into your room. Rome Free Time Spend the rest of the day free to sightsee and explore Rome independently. The city's history spans two and a half thousand years. It was the capital city of the Roman Kingdom and regarded as one of the birthplaces of western civilization, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. If you haven't already done so, you may like to visit the Colosseum, Pantheon, Piazza Navona or even venture down to the Roman Catacombs. You could also stop at Palatine Hill for wonderful views of the city or visit the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. DAY 3 September 18 - Pompeii Excavation Site and leisure time in the afternoon - Travel into Pompeii to see the excavation site destroyed, buried under ashes and forever preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Excavation may have begun in 1748, but work is still being done today. See many frescos that still seem fresh, and the restored mosaic floors which are spectacular. After, enjoy some free time to grab an independent lunch and explore on your own. Overnight: Majestic Palace, Sorrento
DAY 4 September 19 -Amalfi Coast Set off on a half day panoramic tour to admire the delightfully charming Amalfi Coast. Along the way, journey into the town of Amalfi, one of the most famous Maritime capitals of Italy. Upon arrival, stop to view the Duomo di Amalfi, a medieval church dedicated to the Apostle Saint Andrew, whose relics are housed here. Admire the beautiful mosaic tiles that cover the splendid Bell Tower, which was completed in 1276. Cantine Apicella Winery with Lunch Travel into Tramonti to visit Cantine Apicella, a family-owned winery situated along the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a wine tasting session with your group followed by a delicious lunch. Overnight: Majestic Palace, Sorrento
DAY 5 September 20 - Sorrento to Puglia Wine Tasting & Lunch Drive into Benevento and stop at a local winery to enjoy a tasting with your group along with a pleasant light lunch and leisure time. Overnight: Hotel Residence Il Porto, Puglia, situated on a cliff-side offering sweeping views of the Gargano National Park and Mattinata Bay.
DAY 6 September 21 - Puglia to Chieti Borgo Turrito Winery with Lunch - Enjoy some leisure time. Journey to Foggia and stop to visit Borgo Turrito Winery for a tour and tasting of local Primitivo and Negroamaro wines, known for their rich flavors, deep colors and strong connection to the winemaking traditions of Southern Italy. Also, enjoy a splendid light lunch with your group. Overnight: Hotel La Chiave dei Trabocchi, Chieti Enjoy your stay at Hotel La Chiave dei Trabocchi, Chieti, a beachfront location on the Trabocchi Coast, situated directly on the Adriatic.
DAY 7 September 22 - Wine Harvest Experience - Travel into the Abruzzo region to visit the Origini Winery. Here, enjoy a winery harvest experience to discover the area's culinary and winemaking traditions. Following, savor lunch with your group that you helped prepare. - Abruzzo Region to Rome: After your visit, travel from Italy's greenest region passing mountain landscapes, striking engineering marvels and historic hilltop villages as you journey to the Eternal City of Rome. Overnight: Romanico Palace & Spa Hotel, Rome Hotel Romanico Palace & Spa is located in the heart of the city center, in the Via Veneto - Villa Borghese area, near by the most important tourist attractions of the city.
DAY 8 September 23 - Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel and leisure time - Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel Today, tour the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, where out of respect for its sacredness, the Vatican has requested silence during your visit. While here, you will see magnificent sculptures, Maps Gallery and the Hall of Tapestries. The tour ends in the Sistine Chapel, where you can view Michelangelo's Creation and the famous Last Judgment. St. Peter's Basilica Visit the massive St. Peter's Basilica, which is the largest church in Christendom and can hold up to 60,000 people. Tradition maintains that Saint Peter's tomb is below the altar. Overnight: Romanico Palace & Spa Hotel, Rome
DAY 9 September 24 - Rome Departure All too soon, your vacation in Italy has come to an end. Transfer to Rome Airport in plenty of time to check in for your flight. You may do some last minute shopping at the duty-free stores before boarding your aircraft and flying back to the United States.
